31 Days of Decorations: Day 9 Nana's Wise Men

These wise men belonged to my grandmother, Ethyl Maxine Shelton Badgley Stonaker. She loved them, but my mom didn't, so I inherited them. Out these tall, pupil-less men come out each year.

31 Days of Decorations: Day 8 1981 (Age 14)

Every year, Santa brought an ornament and put it in my stocking. Two remain like this one-- round Hallmark ornaments stamped with the year. This one is from 1981.

31 Days of Decorations: Day 7 Marc's Commercial Art

For quite a long time, Marc worked for a company that took his sculptures and mass produced them. There were a number of snow globes from US cities, some candles, and this Victorian ornament.

31 Days of Decorations: Day 6 Hand-Painted by Mom

I have an entire box of ceramic figurines that Mom painted but only a few of the ornaments. This is one. As a child, I remember her sitting and painting them for hours. In fact, it stood out to me BECAUSE she was sitting for so long. It wasn't like Mom then, and it holds true today. But give her a craft, like scrapbooking or painting, and she sits.

31 Days of Decorations: Day 5 Super Sugar Crisp

Marc got this treasure from a cereal box one year. I mastered the art of the impersonation of the bear's sugar-low facial expression through the years. Now when he comes out of the box each year, Marc and I laugh.

31 Days of Decorations: Day 4 Puppy Stockings

We had a package of these really cheap crappy tiny puppy stocking on our tree growing up.  Every year they would come out of the box and Mom would complain that they were crap and couldn't we not use them this year?  And every year Todd and I would throw fits because THE TREE HAS TO HAVE THE PUPPY STOCKINGS!.  When Marc and I moved out, we inherited them and they've decked our halls ever since.  I think there is only one left, though.  Hello tiny crappy puppy stocking.

Comments- I'm truly not a robot

One thing I’d really like to get better at is commenting on the posts that are written on blogs that I read.  I love getting your comments and I imagine that you’d not feel like you got a stick in the eye if you got a comment or two from me now and then.  However…

When I have to jump through hoops or type and retype my comments and bizarre words in order to make a comment, I may not feel my comment of “I agree!” or “Beautifully said!” will be of worthy value enough to go through it all.

Just thought you should know… if you aren’t getting comments from me, it’s not that I’m not reading-- just that I’m really having a difficult time of authenticating myself to your robot-searcher-outer.  Perhaps you would like to change to be a bit less stringent?
